The Eby Way

Okay, want more information about my emotional recovery? It's all about maintaining balance between mind, body, and spirit. I'm retired now but I liked to end my support groups with the following affirmations: May the Light of recovery surround us; may the love of recovery flow through us; may the power of recovery protect us; where ever we are whatever we do: Choose the Positive? Choose the Positive!! My book, The Eby Way explains all of this. For a short time it's available on E-Bay under life coach, life coaching, counseling, mentor. Newspaper Article: Gary Eby plays Marimba

Gary Eby has been a drummer as long as he can remember; back to when he saw his grandfather playfully drum on surfaces with a knife and fork. Eby immediately began to learn how to beat out rythyms with drumsticks. Growing up in Detroit, MI during the hugely popular Motown Music period of the 50's and 60's, Eby was surrounded by musical influences and also became a self-taught pianist and marimba player.
"The marimba is part of the percussion instrument group," he explains, "but of course, like a xylophone, you can also produce music with it. I've developed some techniques which makes it sound like two people are playing at once."

Eby started his first rock bank at the age of 14. He later joined the Army and played in both the Army Band and the Fife and Drum Corps in Washington, D.C.
Upon discharge from the Army, Eby finished his education, earned a master's degree in social work and became a therapist. He now has over 37 years of experience as a therapist, working over the years first at the Albuquerque, N.M. Veterans Administration Hospital and later at the V.A. Hospital in Battle Creek, MI. Eby also joined the National Guard and performed in the National Guard Band in Albuquerque.

Utilizing his years of experience working with people from many walks of life, Eby developed self-help techniques in order to give people tools to take charge of their lives. He continues to counsel people and has recently written "The Eby Way; Challenge, Release and Heal Your Painful Past."

Eby will solo on the marimba at the "Big Band and Jazz Extravaganza" concert, taking place from 4 to 7 p.m. this Sunday at the Deer Creek Center, 1241 Illinois River Road, a mile west of the Selma Post Office. His new book will be available for sale at the concert.

The concert is sponsored by the Illinois River Valley Arts Council and will also feature Oregon Little Big Band, Southern Oregon Jazz Orchestra and a juried art fair organized by the Southern Oregon Guild. Visit www.irvac.org or call 541-592-4444 for further information.

Twitter Interview with Magdalena Ball

magdalenaball: Hi Gary, I'm here, and ready to roll. Shoot a question at me and I'll answer as best as I can.

qlcoach: Great! Welcome. Please introduce yourself to our friends on Twitter: G

magdalenaball: I'm Magdalena, writer, reviewer, mother, juggler. Author of Repulsion Thrust (poetry), Sleep Before Evening (fiction), and more.

magdalenaball: I'll talk Repulsion Thrust (latest). It's science inspired poetry: seeking answers to the human condition through Quantum Physics.

qlcoach: Very interesting. So how can we improve the "human condition"? G

magdalenaball: Poetry is rarely didactic. I'm not sure there are any improvement tips! I do believe in the power of art though on many levels

magdalenaball: What I will say is that I think poetry can often bridge the communication gulf. Getting from what I mean to what you hear is hard, and metaphor (cheating I know) can bridge that gulf instantly - like music, or visual art.

Eby Way Blog Interview

#1. Please introduce yourself to our friends on this Blog:

I am the author of The Eby Way. Have a Masters in Social Work; 40 years of professional experience; Retired from the VA as a social worker.

#2. Will you tell us a little about your book?

The Eby Way, is a self-help guide to overcoming past dark secrets so we can achieve our goals today. You can also learn four simple steps to a more positive life.

#3. Why did you write it?

Year after year books are published promising happiness, joy, prosperity, love, and health. They just don’t tell us how to do it.

Oh, yes, they tell us to think positive or forget about the past. They offer us chants and “powers” and even “secrets”.

Here’s the real secret: as long as your heart or mind or body remembers that negative incident from how ever long ago, your ability to change will not be at hand.

Unlike these other books, I will show you how to stop the negative so you can truly gather the positive.

#4. Why should people buy it?

You can use my emotional healing process to overcome any negative issue or barrier in your life. It is fully field tested to facilitate change on all levels.

#5. Are free samples of your work available?
Please watch The Eby Way video here and check out some free samples of my work: http://www.ipodiums.com/qlcoach

#6. Here is a review by Wheelman Press: "After working in the social work field for 37 years, author Gary Eby developed a simple formula to help anyone overcome a negative past and to embrace a positive lifestyle. In his book, Eby proves the effectiveness of his technique by providing examples of his own experiences as well as the stories of some of the people he has counseled."

#7. For a limited time, The Eby Way is available on eBay at a significant discount: http://bit.ly/7Hz8B8 I'll accept all reasonable bids.

The Eby Way to Centering

The New Year for 2010 in Cave Junction, Oregon was ushered in with the constant drumming of dark rain that morphed into an oppressive fog. After too many days of these doldrums, I decided to recharge my psychological batteries by driving to the coast. Crescent City, California is only about an hours drive down Highway 199 from our home.

I soon found relief at my favorite roadside observation spot. The sun was out, beaming seductive warmth through wisps of paint-brush clouds, which refracted light into candy cane pastel colors over the ocean horizon. The surf pleasantly droned moderate white-cap waves that were speckled with black-suited surfers waiting to a catch a few free rides.

Cruising the Eby Way

This is an article about the joy of cruising to Avalon Bay in Catalina Island, California. It is written by Gary Eby, whose new book, The Eby Way, will be released this September by Sterlinghousepublisher.com.

Boarding the Carnival Cruise ship, we walk up the ramp, and are impressed by the enormous size of the white boat structure with wings of red as smoke stacks. The on-board elevator quickly takes us up six decks to the Lido area

Ten Secrets to Emotional Healing

Do you suffer from financial concerns, work related challenges, relationship problems, or parenting stress? Maybe you are struggling with one of the following: low self-esteem, lack of life direction, spiritual confusions, depression, anxiety, anger, fear, guilt, weight loss, cigarettes smoking, alcohol, drugs, or chronic pain?

My Personal Challenge:

I've been back from my nature walk for a while near our home in Grants Pass, Oregon. The sky is clear and blue; temperature must be around 83 degrees with a slight breeze.

I wore my straw hat to protect my neck and face from the sunshine. And I always use my black, walking stick; carved with a mysterious sandal-colored, wizard face, who wears a long, flowing beard.

Today, I want to write an article about the power of love, life challenges, and healthy ways to meet these challenges.
